For some reason, I've always preferred using spears whenever possible, so which character/class uses them best?

No, cause I built a werefox to use spears, it looked cool, but made her suck for stats. As far as I can tell, it looks like anyone can use any weapon if you allocate the stats for it.

I did that one before I could read the game, I knew I had female beast, and I new what stats I lacked and needed to build. I've never played a beast warrior dude, but don't they have melee skills tehy could use with it?

they uses axes and hammers wu xia only class to get spear skills

Wuxia is the class your looking for They have spear skills. And some staffs look like spears, they are very long.
