Guide To Patching International Chinese Version:

I got up to patch 24 as so it says. I re-open the game and this pops up

I click the upper button and the portal closes on me.
When I click the bottom selection nothing happens and it
loads and than says 24 O_o And the font changes under
the update bar like this!

Nothing seems to be working =/
I also try verify client and this happens,

and it sits there for a good five minutes but nothing afterwards.

I also switched the channels to download from, nothing different.

Apparently this game is really loaded with good content.
For that to be possible, the updates must be tedious making
patching quite a long process.

What you did wrong is you assumed that the verifying client
wasn't working after sitting there..looking at the screen
all numb and zoned out! Wait another good five minutes and
this will be your results:

But hey, there is no need to get past 24! If 24 completes then you are having the latest patch installed. I am running the client fine with 24 at the moment. So what exactly is your problem? Did the 24 complete, because then you should get the start button activated.

BTW, do you have Windows Vista? Because Windows Vista has a known issue, where you need to run it directly without the patcher... (otherwise if you click on the upper left button - to start the game - only a message is given but the client is not started). I found this info in a chinese forums by seeking the "chinese chars" via google ! So if anyone is using Vista, just ask me for a fix on how to start the client manually (but you need the latest patch to be applied!).

I am very interested in Perfect World but can't get it to update properly. After some time there is always a window message popping up which looks like a "Retry or cancel" message. He tries to update the first file, 1.ini, then. Can I use the manual update method?

#edit: OK, I am now loading patch v25 via Torrent. Hope this will work. English client would be nice... coming soon from what I heard (Closed Beta).

#edit2: Manual didn't work... no I saw that I installed it in the default directoy. I reinstalled with a directory called Perfect World instead of that chinese crap and it's updating now, cool!

Yes, it works perfectly, you just have to change the name of the installation path like you wrote in your installation tutorial (didn't know it is REALLY important and clicked next I think).

And I really like the chinese version but after lvl 5 it gets hard to understand where to go next or how to do quests. PW has exciting features like player towns, 80vs80 pvp for example but I can't test it in this version. I hope an english open beta gets released in the coming weeks.

well if you did what i did (which i wrote on my thread on onrpg) then the patching would be instant >>
i installed the game ran it, closed it while it was doing the whole long patching thing, downloaded patch 9-25 (only 14 mb >>!!!) ran it, it patched my game all the way to 25, and now the game runs perfectly and the patch only took a min or less >>!

The other thing I can suggest you is using the manual cue update files for the patches or try the second patch server they have. Usually it makes a difference.

The message means "Some files appear to be corrupted (2 seconds auto retry)" Options: Try Again / Cancel

Here's a solution to your problem. It will work. Just that you'll have to reinstall the client.

1. Uninstall Perfect World.
2. Delete the game folder completely.
3. Restart and Reinstall
4. Autopatch it

Sorry about this issue. It seems when the patch server is overly congested, things like this can happen. Bad bad bad.....

I really thought this game would fit me nicely but it didnt . Some parts of it was pretty sweet but not just enough to get me hooked on it... oh well to the rest of you have fun playing...
