ACTUALY, I tried a mage class for human (still am) and have a lvl 6 cleric, based on the wep stats , you need to NOT GO PURE INT!!!!

to equip higher lvl wep you will also need a certain amount in str too!! and yes this goes for ALL mage weps+equips, BUT you dont need much, for example at lvl 5 the staff/bone thing you can buy requires 6 str and im not sure on the int, maybe 14 or more, anyway you start the game with 5 str already so just add 1 point to it, then later at like lvl 7 with another wep youll need 1 more str (7) so just put 1 str or the amount needed before you reach the level to use that wep and rest goes into INT, but if you want you can add some con (health_ but you dont rly need it because everytime you lvl it goes up automatically, ex my lvl 7 human mage has around 190 hp and 470 mp i think, and no monsters in this game at low lvls do REALLY LOW DMG so no worries about dying as long as you got armor.
