Mana Shield (Feather Shield in Japanese version) is fairly useful if you've screwed up your stats badly (low HP) but it's a serious MP drain. At lvl 1, it sucks up 53% total physical dmg at the cost of 2MP/1 dmg. At lvl 10, it sucks up 80% at the cost of 1.1MP/1 dmg. Heaven faction gets 85% dmg absorbed while Hell faction gets 15% less spirit cost to cast.

If you are wearing a robe, you'll have low phys defense so you'll take a lot of damage. If you cast Mana Shield, it'll suck up a lot of damage but you'll watch your MP go down real fast. If you're not careful and run out of MP before the 20 seconds is up, you lose both the Mana Shield as well as the ability to attack (can't cast spells), which leads to an unpleasant death :p

My suggestion is to get the shield and only use it when you're in a real bad situation where HP potions won't do the job because it has 0 sec chant time and 0.5 sec cast time. It's much better if you have a high Cons so you'll never be in that situation.

nahh,use mana shield for pve only make u broke(cuz u will need tons of mp potion)or slower on lvling,if u use mana shield on pve is like u need to med (for mp) every 2 mobs,just use the 2nd heal on urself b4 u hit the mobs, from my experience as a yuling,at lvls 40 n under u only need 4 nukes to kill the mobs(with 3 stars weapon) which is the monster only can hit u 1 or twice so u will be alright(with robe armor), about def dun worry about it,just keep on robe armor but try to find at least 2 slots on every equipments,more will be better n load them all with at least lvl 5 def stones. if u do so,u can boosted ur def up to 2k(with own buff, if + wx buff can up to 2.5k)
