well if u wanna go for spear u have to go with 24 str and 11 dex each 10 levels. this way u can wear the light armor and leave urself 15 for 10 levels to distribute. if u want to wear heavy armor too, u need just a few points more str ... 25 each 10 lvls.
so with 2,5 str and 1,1 dex u can switch between heavy and light armor, leaving 1,4 stat points to distribute into con for example.
thats all up to u.

lol ^^ well thats kinda true. to avoid this, ... ... ... just multiply the values by 10 and aim for such a distribution each 10 levels.

hard to say. i usually prefer other classes then melee chars, except thief maybe.
all i can do is to give an additional view to ur choices.
if u go for damage, go for double swords, since they have pretty high damage. the disadvantage is that u need 19 str and 16 dex each 10 levels, so u will be bound to invest 6 more str then needed into str to wear heavy gear. if u dont want that u have to wear light armor.
with spear u need 24 str and 11 dex, so u just have to use 1 point aside from ur weapon stats for the gear.
with the long blade for example, u dont have that "problem" at all, since both the weapon and the heavy gear require 25 str each 10 levels, casting dex aside. that means u only stat for the weapon and heavy gear comes naturally.
but keep in mind that im not familiar with the skills, which may influence the choice too.
