mages might just have better skills and/or higher lvl skills than you
you have to look at your damage per second also, not just "pure damage"...sure let's say someone can do like 800 every .83 seconds (assuming hammer/axe), but a claw user does 600 every 1.43 seconds...mathematically, the claw user is going to do more over time.
equipment, stats (like wth did you do 15 int...), skills, monster that you're fighting...all those effect how much damage people do. Like archers...their bows have higher attack than your axes, at the same level. Also, archers only keep str at minimum, and almost nothing in con...rest into Agility, which gives them more advantages in actual damage. Same with mages, elf priests, werefoxes...they don't need any con either.
You would probably do more if you had not put 15 int, and 30 con...and those extra 35 points into STR = more damage.
if you really want to see who's better, next time duel one of those priests, mages, archers, whatever
